Big Tech Update
After 7 minutes of terror, NASA’s Perseverance rover finally landed on Mars
The NASA Perseverance rover finally landed on the red planet after a tense landing process that scientists dubbed “seven minutes of terror.”
In spite of the nickname, the landing went fairly smooth and the rover made its way to the surface of Mars without any major issues. The landing of Perseverance was one of the most anticipated space missions to date, as it attracted a lot of media attention and interest from the public. Perseverance was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida last July – meaning it had a nearly seven-month journey to the red planet.
Shortly after landing, Perseverance took a series of photos that show the rocky surface of Mars. One of its first missions will be to study the Jezero Crater and to look for signs of life on the planet. What else will Perseverance accomplish while on Mars?
