Big Tech Update
Google will officially face a lawsuit over its practice of tracking users even when they use Incognito mode.
After being slapped with a class action suit regarding the company tracking users without their knowledge while using Incognito, Google petitioned the court to have the case thrown out. A judge ruled that Google did not adequately explain what Incognito mode involved and did not notify users that it was collecting data, even when Incognito mode’s privacy feature was active.
The judge’s decision now allows the class action suit to proceed. In a statement released on Sunday, Google denied any wrongdoing and said that the company will defend itself “vigorously” against the claims. What else did Google say about the pending lawsuit?
