Big Tech Update
This is what we know about the new Boeing F-15EX
This week, Boeing completed its first ever test flight of the new Boeing F-15EX fighter jet.
The new aircraft is meant to replace some of the Air Force’s aging F-15C/D jets that have been in operation for decades. Boeing’s F-15EX has some impressive new features, including fly-by-wire controls and an all-digital cockpit powered by an ADCP-II mission computer. The plane has a “digital backbone” that will allow the Air Force to update the jet with new technology as it becomes available.
Surprisingly, the F-15EX was the most budget-friendly way to replace the aging Air Force aircraft lineup. The original intent was to purchase new F-35 jets at a cost of $1 trillion to address the aging aircraft situation. The F-15EX will instead cost a total of $22 billion to replace all 144 planes that need to be phased out. So, when will the F-15EX officially debut?
