IBM just unveiled a new computer chip that could completely change computing as we know it.
The new 2nm technology can fit up to 50 billion transistors on the chip. This is the first chip of its kind in the world. The new design allows the chip to achieve 45 percent higher performance and use 75 percent less energy.
This means the new 2nm chip could potentially quadruple a cell phone’s battery life, which would require phones to be charged every four days on average. IBM’s new chip will also drastically improve the speed and efficiency of laptops, as well as improve object detection in self-driving cars.
What else can this super chip do, how does it work, and when will it be available in devices? Learn all of that and more right here.
